Agnes Hanning, Founder
Agnes is the proprietor of Animal Lodge. She is also a credentialed expert who trained in animal psychology at the ATN for Animal Health in Switzerland. She is known for her practical approach, which is based on both scientifically grounded insights and years of experience. As a dedicated entrepreneur and expert in animal psychology, she continually sets new standards in professional pet care while also actively promoting animal welfare.
A longtime animal welfare-advocate here on the Island, Agnes also chairs Together we care e.V. – Animal Welfare Association, which conducts spaying and neutering projects in conjunction with the J.S.P.C.A.
Prior to Animal Lodge, Agnes founded the first professional cat-sitting agency in Munich, Germany, Miez&Maunz, which she still runs. The company now has 50 employees and continues to expand through franchise partners across Germany. Her commitment to continuous development and employee training ensures that Miez&Maunz always provides the highest standards of pet care.
Agnes spent the first 16 years of her career as a First Class flight attendant with the renowned German airline Lufthansa. Her elite training in service excellence there influences her animal-related service work today.
Agnes grew up surrounded by dogs, cats and horses in Bielefeld, Germany. These early connections informed her beliefs that a better understanding of animals is key to building a harmonious relationship with them—and that every person is capable of this. At Animal Lodge, she passionately promotes respectful interaction with animals, particularly among children.
Today, Agnes lives on premise at Animal Lodge with her team, as well as four cats and two dogs she adopted from shelters in Germany.
